South Asian languages: Rethinking Curriculum (SALRC)

The second SALRC Pedagogy workshop entitled "Appropriate Pedagogy: Language, Culture, and Curriculum The South Asian Language Classroom" was held at the South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI), University of Wisconsin, Madison from June 7th and 11th, 2004.
Twenty three instructors and teaching assistants who taught at SASLI during the 2004 summer session participated in the workshop. Professor Rakesh Bhatt, (http://www.linguistics.uiuc.edu/rbhatt/) Linguistics and Hindi, University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign, and Director of the Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education program (SLATE), conceived and directed the workshop.
The workshop also had three featured speakers:

University of Wisconsin Learning Support Services and technology support personnel offered a web development orientation session during which the SASLI faculty were exposed to University of Wisconsin Langauge Lab and to the audio- video materials necessary for the classroom.
