About Our Workshops

SALRC offers advanced pedagogy workshops and seminars on South Asian Languages independently as well as in conjunction with South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI) at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and South Asia National Resource Centers throughout the United States. These modular workshops in language pedagogy are targeted towards advanced graduate students interested in language instruction as well as current instructors of South Asia's less commonly taught languages, many of whom have never had formal training in language pedagogy. A primary objective of this instruction is to reinvigorate language teaching as a serious career option for graduate students. SALRC is also committed to introduce tools for Internet based language programs as an integral component of pedagogy training. The goal will be to enable South Asian language instructors to develop materials using the new technologies, as well as to adapt older but still useful materials and integrate them into new formats.
