During the course of awarding pedagogical material development grants teachers of South Asian languages, SALRC recognized the need to help prospective materials developers with some very specific information in areas as diverse as video and audio technology, copyrights, hardware recommendations, human subject protocols, media quality assurance, fonts and more. The grant recipients were a diverse lot with not only varied interests and backgrounds but widely divergent levels of skills in the above mentioned areas. The grant recipients were also in different stages of project planning and execution.
In order to address this imbalance, SALRC organized a workshop in Chicago on Web technologies and intellectual property issues for developing pedagogical materials. The participants also discussed their projects with the Director of SALRC, Director of SALRC^Òs Pedagogical Materials project, technical experts from the University of Chicago and also with each other.
